Dr. Vangelis Karkaletsis was designated as a national representative for Greece at the European Artificial Intelligence Board  in May 2024.

More specifically, the National representatives for Greece at the European Artificial Intelligence Board, appointed by the Ministry of Digital Governance are:
– Dimosthenis Anagnostopoulos, Secretary General for Information Systems and Digital Governance, and
– Vangelis Karkaletsis, Member of the High Level Advisory Committee for Artificial Intelligence to the Prime Minister and Director of the Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications at NCSR Demokritos

The European AI Board comprises of high-level representatives from the Commission and all EU Member States, and is discussing how to enhance the development and uptake of AI in the EU and the next steps in the implementation of the AI Act. Its mission is to provide the European Commission with expertise and advice on Artificial Intelligence policy issues, including for the preparation of delegated acts, and, where considered necessary, implementing acts, and to provide a forum for cooperation between Member States’ bodies and the Commission in the relevant areas.
