Prisma Magazine, of Avgi newspaper highlights the AI4Copernicus project through its featured article under the title AI4Copernicus: A bridge between two worlds: Artificial Intelligence and Earth Observation. The article was published on 22 May 2021 and elaborates on the objectives and goals of the project, as well as on the procedure of the Open Calls, that was launched in June 2021.
As Dr Vangelis Karkaletsis, Director of the IIT of NCSR Demokritos and also coordinator of the AI4Copernicus project noted “the challenge in this project is to bridge the world of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Earth Observation, making the AI4EU platform the best option for users of Earth Observation data for the entire ecosystem of scientists and technology companies. AI4Copernicus aims to enhance and optimise the services of the AI4EU platform for more efficient use of Copernicus data in areas of high economic and social impact, such as Agriculture, Health, Energy and Security with a series of open calls that will lead to 8 small scale experiments and 9 larger projects”.
