It is with great pride and excitement we announce the launch of Aylon Lyceum – Στέγη Ελληνικών Ιδεών, the result of a 3-year-long joint effort between the Greek Ministry of Culture and the Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications at NCSR Demokritos that aims to create technology-driven cultural experiences around ancient Greek philosophy.
The Minister of Culture, Lina Mendoni, inaugurated the space which is located at the Athens Conservatoire, on the 30th of October 2023, in the presence of Deputy Minister of Culture Christos Dimas, Director and Chairman of the Board of NCSR Demokritos Dr. George Nounesis, and Alexandra Mitsotaki, co-founder and President of the World Human Forum. Prof. John Tasioulas, renowned moral and legal philosopher, Director of the Institute for Ethics in AI, at the University of Oxford, was an invited speaker at the event.
We are proud to be part of this project and apply our expertise using cutting-edge technologies. Behind the interactive applications that allow the visitors to engage with the digital exhibits lie the creative forces and perseverance of the teams of the Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications at NCSR Demokritos guided by the Director of IIT and Scientific Coordinator of the project, Dr. Vangelis Karkaletsis, and the project manager and curator of the exhibitions Dr. Lida Arnellou.
This first exhibition is dedicated to “Democracy and Eudaimonia” and aims to inspire reflection and dialogue on values such as democracy drawing from the wisdom of ancient Greek philosophers.
We invite you to visit and discover the power of ancient Greek ideas. Find out more and reserve your free spot here: https://aylonlyceum.gr/en
